The Prada Time Capsule NFT project drops Thursday June 2nd – a limited edition collection of shirts designed by Damien Hirst’s son Cassius.
For those unfamiliar with the Prada brand, they hold a monthly Time Capsule event on the first Thursday of every month – where a special line of clothing or fashion accessories goes on sale for 24 hours, first come, first served.
Those are in short supply and are then mailed to the customer that bought them online. This time they’re adding non-fungible tokens into the mix – every buyer will also receive an exclusive NFT, making the items even more unique.
In Thursday’s Prada NFT drop a total supply of one hundred gender-neutral (unisex) t-shirts, button down shirts and polo tops will be listed for sale, designed by artist Cassius Hirst. They all come in one of two colors, white or black, with Hirst’s trademark mask and brain scan designs that represent unity.
A collection of 100 NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain will accompany each shirt – giving extra exclusivity to each owner. Those Prada NFTs will be airdropped to the NFT wallet address of each shirt buyer around the world. An extra utility is that holders may be able to receive additional Prada NFTs at a future date, alongside other perks and VIP experiences.
The GIF representation of those NFTs will be a white or black pill capsule, and come with a serial number linking them to each Prada shirt.
Prada have been involved with NFTs before, collaborating with Adidas to release an NFT drop – 3,000 tiled photos submitted by Prada fans and auctioned on SuperRare NFT marketplace, a digital art market on Ethereum.
Prada have also now launched an NFT community server on Discord, named Prada Crypted to discuss the applications of NFTs in fashion.
Damien Hirst himself is a well-known NFT artist, minting a collection ‘The Currency’ of 10,000 NFTs which have a 5.8 ETH floor price on OpenSea marketplace.
